Don’t look for flawless employees. There are none 1/2

We live in a time when society is openly permeated by topics touching on politics, relationships, money, and gender balance. Yet, one thing is still taboo in many companies. They are mistakes! People in many companies are either ashamed of them or hysterically afraid of them. Fortunately, this is gradually starting to change…

But let’s start in order. Previously, mistakes were considered a stigma. A mistake was seen as a failure that could irreversibly prevent career advancement. So it was easier to pretend that no one makes any mistakes. And when it was already obvious that a mistake had been made, the main thing was to get it over with as quickly as possible, to punish someone and move on.

This is not an excerpt from any manual, but a management approach that is still current in many companies. Unfortunately.

Unfortunately, because where managers or companies do not analyze mistakes, where mistakes are not talked about, mistakes are also repeated. Human memory is naturally short, forgetful and selective. A flawless point of view is inherently disqualifying for any progress or learning.

Therefore, in life and at work, a person should want to receive feedback from those around them and find their mistakes thanks to it.

If you receive such information, the second key step is to be able to admit your mistake and calmly say out loud “I made a mistake” . This is the fundamental moment thanks to which we move forward as individuals and as a society. When you reach such awareness, you can talk about the mistake with yourself and those around you, measure its impacts and work on what to do next.

By realizing more often that something went wrong, you will be better able to recognize similar situations in advance the next time and will not repeat the same mistakes.
